Most people are supportive of continuing to wear face masks on flights due to differing restrictions around the world, according to new research.

The YouGov poll of more than 3,600 UK adults found that 67% are  either very (37%) or fairly (30%) comfortable with mask wearing on aircraft.

The study conducted on Thursday revealed that just 12% are ‘not comfortable at all’ and 15% ‘not very comfortable’ with the continued used of masks being worn when flying.

The vast majority of all age groups said they were are either very or fairly comfortable.

A YouGov spokesperson said: “Complex and fast changing regulatory environment aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus have significantly altered the travel experience for would-be travellers, including mandates to wear masks on planes.

“Our ongoing tracking research shows that many of us are desperate to get away and this new data shows that the majority of Britons – across every age group, region and social grade – would be comfortable wearing masks on planes for the foreseeable future.

“Of course, this may change as more people begin to travel and experience this up close.

“We will continue tracking how the public feel about this over the coming months.”
