MHRA welcomes the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine in Malta and the first vaccination which was administered to Ms. Rachel Grech, a Mater Dei Nurse. It is anticipated that by June 2021 the whole population of Malta will be vaccinated against Covid19.
MHRA president Tony Zahra said “This is incredibly good news as life will be able to return to some normality once the whole population has been vaccinated and herd immunity is achieved. The most important factor of course is that we shall be able to see our loved ones again and be able to hug them and hold their hands without fear that unknowingly we might be passing on the virus”.
In addition, the thousands of employees in the hospitality and other sectors that were badly affected by COVID-19 can return to some normality and become productive once more. The cost to government in terms of lost revenue and increased spending will be counted in billions of euros and the sooner we return to normality, the less the cost to government and therefore the Maltese taxpayer will be.
Tony ZAHRA confirmed that he will definitely take the vaccine as soon as he is invited by the health authorities to take the vaccine. Tony Zahra said “I will take the vaccine as i want to show respect and protect my family, my friends and all the people that I come in contact with and finally I want also to have some protection myself from this virus”
